Goat meat (chevon) is Uganda's second most consumed red meat. This project breeds 300 Boer Γ Kigezi cross goats in Kotido, Karamoja. These breeds thrive on dry savannah pastures needing minimal input. Goats are ready for market at 6 months (20β25kg live weight). Kampala butcheries pay UGX 12,000β15,000/kg. Export demand from Saudi Arabia (Eid Al-Adha) is serviced through Entebbe International Airport.
